Improvements to Smart Summon might be coming soon to the Tesla app

Assets found in the 2022.24 update point towards changes to Smart Summon and the Tesla app.

It appears that whilst the image asset remained in the firmware, there has been no direct reference to the image asset or anything relating to "Smart Summon". We aren't sure what these improvements could be, but any improvement or addition would be a welcome one.

Tesla introduced Summon in the 7.1 update released in early 2016. Originally available on the Model S & X, Tesla later expanded Summon for the Model 3 when it went into production in 2018, as part of their FSD package.

In September 2019 as part of their major update 10.0, Tesla added Smart Summon. Again, only available for vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving Capability upgrade, Smart Summon use extends beyond moving forwards and backwards and can navigate through more complex situations like parking lots or car parks. The feature is famously crippled in Europe due to the UNECE Regulation 79 which limits the feature to 6 meters (19ft).

Since then, there has been no improvements to the software with most people calling it a gimmick and the feature being scrutinised by the media for being potentially dangerous.

On Jul 17, 2021, Elon Musk replied to a user who said:

To which Elon replied:

FSD Beta is still not using a single stack for all aspects of AP. Navigate-on-Autopilot, Summon, Smart Summon and Autopark are all using legacy AP code as FSD Beta is purely limited to city streets.

Could Smart Summon be coming to more regions? Only time will tell.
